The function and purpose of track rod
- Oct 12, 2017 -

The gauge rod is used to connect the two rails in the bottom of the rail to improve the transverse stability of the rail and the ability to keep track of the track. Some of the lines have track circuits, separated by an insulating part of the gauge rod. What is the track? A: the gauge is the vertical distance between the two rail heads.

Gauge - linear track

The standard gauge of the railway track of the world is 1435mm. More than 1435mm called wide gauge, such as 1676mm, 1524mm, 1520mm, etc. The narrow gauge is less than 1435mm, such as 1067mm, 1000mm, 762mm, 600mm, etc. China railway mainly adopts the standard gauge, only Taiwan adopts 1067mm, and the Kunming to the estuary USES a narrow gauge of 1000mm. India, Pakistan, Argentina, Chile and other countries mainly adopt the 1676mm wide gauge; Russia USES the l520mm wide gauge; Japan general railway adopts 1067mm narrow rail, and the new trunk line of donghai road and Shan Yang adopts the standard gauge of 1435mm. Most countries in the United States, Canada and Europe use the 1435mm standard gauge. Ghana, Congo, Tanzania, Zambia and other African countries with 1067 mm narrow gauge, guinea, Cameroon and other countries with 1000 mm narrow gauge, African countries such as Ethiopia, Djibouti, using 1435 mm standard gauge.

Because the rail top circular arc shaped, rim have some curve, flange and rail contact is generally in orbit under the top 10 to 16 mm, so China's regulations on the management discipline of railway technology, linear gauge is within the scope of the rail head surface under 16 mm and the minimum distance between two rails work.
